Changed of hosting strategy
IMPORTANT: IF YOU NOTICE ANYTHING NOT WORKING AS EXPECTED, PLEASE TELL!
And the non working thing cannot be told on the forum, then mail me -> mike@defence-force.org
Ideally provide screenshots and/or proper copy-pasted error messages, with the proper URL, etc... so I get a chance to find the problem.
Also, I'm interested in performance/metrics: Did it work faster, slower, or same as before.
Thanks!
This is a test post to see if everything is fine with the new hosting provider.

@Debug
All is OK, fast, the color of the first page is a little bit different.
The wiki site is not available.

Thanks, Dbug! I really miss the forum this week. Now it works fine for me, will see how it will go with the new stuff which I've already collected for posting.

Re: Changed of hosting strategy
I don't really need anything, other than patience for the rest of the services that need to be fixed, which at this moment are:
- We have no backups in place (on my old machine I had a cron job + BackInTime + copy to my NAS + manual snapshots of the entire server file system now and then), so I need to put that in place (or at least find which options are actually usable from a web host perspective)
- The Wiki is still missing, for some reason I was not able to get the dokuwiki install to run, so I guess the next attempt will be to get a full new version of dokuwiki installed from scratch, and see if I can copy/import the old files
- The webhost does not allow for apache modules, so that means no apache-svn, so no "svn.defence-force.org" that way. The only real logical strategy would be to move the SVN repository to something like github, gitlab or equivalent, but my two issues are that I really dislike GIT (an over-complicated piece of software which probably work well for the kernel development but that I hate to use for my personal projects), and I dislike the licencing terms and political censorship that has happened on some of these source control hosting sites.
Structurally speaking, it would also probably make sense to split the repository in multiple parts:
- osdk project
- oric games and demos
if that makes sense, and obviously no matter what, we need something that will properly import the repository history with all revisions, descriptions, etc...

Re: Changed of hosting strategy
[I've split the Source Control discussion to its own topic]
Regarding the Wiki, I managed to get the data in it: https://wiki.defence-force.org/doku.php
What I did not manage is to recreate the users, so I fear everybody will have to recreate their accounts.
