Forum connectivity

In this forum you can write about anything that does not fit in other forums.
This includes generic Oric talkings and things that are totaly unrelated but want to share with people here :)

Sometimes I read that instead the forum page:

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

User 'defenceforceco01' has exceeded the 'max_queries_per_hour' resource (current value: 360000) [1226]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

This problem started again yesterday, I updated the htaccess with a new list of banned IP ranges, will see if that helps.

I've read somewhere that the AI models are scanning all the websites for texts to use in training, and this might create problems (AWS Claudebot?).

If you have the offending IPs you can check https://github.com/femueller/cloud-ip-r ... ree/master

But it might be a totally different thing...

That's not a bad point, I should check that.

That being said, I'm not against the content of the forum being used to generate a high quality knowledge base regarding the computer, as long as they don't kill or slow down the server. Maybe there are options in phpbb (or htaccess) to throttle accesses?

The first time I've noticed the problem was on 19. April if it does matter.

EDIT: more facts:
- the issue lasted ~15 min.
- the main page (i.e. bare link: https://forum.defence-force.org/index.php) worked
- any other link which obviously use SQL failed.

Just a follow-up to a previous subject in this topic: Google now returns one result when looking for Defence Force forum, but it leads to the "discussions" part, not the board index.

Hi,

I tried again today and the Defence Force Forum home page now appears nicely in Google results ;)

BTW Dbug: someone from the FB group tried to register but sent me this: "I have attempted to register with Defence Force but the question regarding the Oric unicorn has me stumped ☹️". I don't know what this question is, I know you had lots of trouble with registering bots, so I suggested him to contact you.

Which of the groups, there are quite a few facebook groups, and unfortunately some people keep posting the same videos again and again so I've basically stop going there.

Indeed. It is annoying.

"Oric 1 & Atmos Owners/Users". It's true, FB groups are a bit of a mess. But this one is quite interesting with Paul Kaufman and Geoff Phillips there, and John Marshall from time to time.

I only tried to join another group (a French one), but was never allowed in, so I gave up.

Oh sorry, he didn't post a message but contacted me in private message. I told him to join you and he said he will.
