Want to use a disk, but have an EPROM? No problem

This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.

Want to use a disk, but have an EPROM? No problem

Post by Chema »

Silicebit has just developed a nice solution that fits in the socket perfectly. Read about it here:

Thanks Silicebit!

Nice, but isn't the HN4827128G EPROM solution, that iss investigated on some time ago, much simpler ?

I personally have this EPROM in my Oric and have no problems at all with disks.

Now we can use a standard 27c128 chip easier to find.

Very nice indeed, especially when it looks very familiar to me!
EEPROM (or flash) replacement for Oric-1 ROM

A very cool design, iss!! I can assure you that I knew nothing about your idea. Although both of us had the same idea, yours one was prior to mine.

This design is very low profile using SMD components (PicoGates, one gate per pakage), and is a "multi-component" PCB. Subject to availability, you can use two Picogates (74HC1G04 and 74HC1G00, or 2 x 74HC1G00), or one 74HC00 SMD.
