This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.
Thanks, very interesting indeed. Classic scheme - clear and well designed - no doubt it will work stable.
Actually it's very close to the scheme I used for OricExos slaves to enable RAM Overlay (which works nice too!) .
In the doc file is written about using MAP signal to disable internal RAM (#0000..#C000),
this information can be found in other sources, but my question is:
Does anyone know about a real existing device which adds external RAM to Oric-1/Atmos ?
I really want to make one of these ORIC SDCARD projects - anyone else interested? I think we can (affordably) do a small production run of PCB's if we get enough interest ..
I would be in. But as stated before, there are some differences between the schematics and the board. So for routing purpose it should be better to wire them correctly. I will have a look at it by the end of the week (I have a sdlep to solder for my Acorn Electron and Matra Alice before ).
Would be good to get this sorted out - I'll commit to at least 5 of these boards, out of the batch .. and am willing to finance more if there is interest and we might get them distributed, over time, to other Oric users.
Thanks to Edl42 !
I've modified a little bit the code and the schematics to use a 1602 I2C LCD (only 2 pins for the Nano : A4 and A5).
I am just waiting for a SD card reader module and soon, I will made a 'dirty" copy of it.
Will report whatever is the result.
This is really beautiful. Only thing I wonder is if its going to be possible to somehow mount .DSK images programmatically from the Oric itself, rather than requiring user interaction...
This looks great!
Makes me think that we could re-use old joysticks (quickshot style), integrate a screen and use the joystick + fire button to navigate in the menus
