How to use:
- To start the Erebus, plug it, and type CLOAD"". Or CLOAD"
- Obviously you need a microsd card in it

Limitations:
- Programs using STORE/RECALL are not compatible

MicroSD Cards:
- the microSD card has to be formatted in FAT16, so the maximum is 2GB
- you must avoid SDHC and SDXC models, which have a different hardware to allow much bigger storage
- the current Erebus version "only" accepts 512 entries on the root of the card
- Files have to be put on the root directory (folders are not supported)
- At least, one Tap file must be loaded into the sd card, otherwise, Erebus shows nothing
- if you use files with long names (more than MS-DOS 8+3 chars standard), this will reduce the amount of available entries (If a file has a long name, its header will use 3 additional locations memory. If there are long names everywhere, you can only put 128 games)

Tested Cards:
- WORKS: 2GB MicroSD from TeamGroup using FAT format [Dbug]
- WORKS: 2GB Class 4 Sandisk [Kaydav,Symoon]
- FAILS: 16GB Class 10 from BlackVue using FAT32 format [Dbug]
- FAILS: 4GB card [Stevenbanner]
- ----: 2GB Transcend [Kaydav]
- ----: 128MB from Amazon [Symoon]
- ----: 1GB from Amazon [coco.oric]

In order to keep the list clean, I'm going to update the status on the first page and delete the concerned messages.
If some details are missing, please tell, I'll update, this way it will be easy to see what the status is.

Please refer to the top post for prices and postage, normally you will get contacted in private message for the actual order, address, etc...

EDIT: Added information on the top post regarding the Micro SD cards

I have ordered some sd cards well 50 to be precise as it seems most people don't have a small sd card. If they work which I hope they do I will add them as an option on the top. I know it doesn't help people with erebus already posted.

I will update with the sd card I used when I get back from my mini break on Monday.

I didn't put the 128MB sde cards on the list because I haven't tried then, if someone does it successfully, we can add them to the list of valid sd cards.

Ok, just tested the beast with an old 2GB Sandisk card. It works like a chram! :D 8)
Of course I tried twisted things like a program using STORE/RECALL  (which failed, but Kenneth already explained that IIRC).

The box is really nice, and the chips are not directly soldered on the card, so they can be pulled and replaced or re-programmed, which gives room for new software versions.

Nice work really, thanks a lot to Kenneth and Mustangus!

If I'm not mistaken (all from memory):
- the microSD card has to be formatted in FAT16, so the maximum is 2GB
- you must avoid SDHC and SDXC models, which have a different hardware to allow much bigger storage
- the current Erebus version "only" accepts 512 entries on the root of the card
- if you use files with long names (more than MS-DOS 8+3 chars standard), this will reduce the amount of available entries

Thanks for the info. I think most of mine are SDHC - and aren't mini ones. The mini card I got was 128Gb or something.

I think all my original files have short names, but I'm aware of a lot of the ROM download sites that add information to the filename, like adding a year and saying things are PD, (usually a bit dubious). 8 letter filenames - how retro :)

I'm wondering if it's possible to have more than 512 if they are divided into subfolders. At the moment my copy of the Oric Gamebase has about 1400 files and takes up about 67Mb .. so the limiting factor would be the maximum number of files rather than the total space used on one of these cards.

Hi, I've received mine.

I was getting a 'memory error' with a 4gb SD card I had. I ordered a 2gb SD card and formatted to FAT16.

However, now when I enter CLOAD "" I see 'Searching ..' briefly at the top of the screen and then it returns to the cursor prompt. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? I'm guessing the 2gb SD card still isn't correct.

Regards,

I tested Erebus, worked fine with a simple 2GB microsd card from "TeamGroup", was already formated in FAT (16).

I copied the informations to the main post and currently doing some cleaning.
- Freaktmp: Can you confirm the type of card you used?
- Kaydav: Did you have the opportunity to test the 2GB Transcend (or only the Sandisk)
- Symoon: Did you get to test the 128MB from Amazon?
- Coco: Did you get to tet the 1GB from Amazon?
- Stevenbanner: What was the brand/model for this 4GB you tried?

Well I didn't need 10 µSD cards so I didn't order them ;)
I ordered another one (can't recall the size, 512MB or 1GB) and will let you know once I recieve it.
