Re: Imma Just Gonna Leave This Here….
Now that you mention it, I do have a Verilog description of it I downloaded it off the t’internet (although I may be wrong, it may be VHDL, it’s been a while). I don’t know how good it is and will just have to get stuck in over mid 2022. FPGAs aren’t a magic bullet (and I have a lot of learning to d...

Re: Imma Just Gonna Leave This Here….
I like the look of the ‘541’s though I think there’s going to be more to it than these offer. I want to retain the printer port so that one doesn’t have to unplug it. This is a minor complication to keep things interesting. Maybe a few modern bilateral switches is the answer, this meaning that many ...

Re: Imma Just Gonna Leave This Here….
Today I ordered new PCB's for the keyboard assembly. Here's a simple snapshot. Hopefully by Mid-january, I'll be able to play games on a fully new Oric without any original parts (HCS10017 exempted). It's designed around Cherry MX key switches for that customizeable feel. <-- Is that how you spell c...

Re: AY-3-8912 compatibility.
I just found the IJK details, and so now implementing an internal interface should be practical.

Re: AY-3-8912 compatibility.
How does one scan an IJK joystick. As it should be added to the mainboard, and that means 5V and suchlike being very readily available, I see no reason why we can’t have our cake and eat it (auto-fire ahoy!).
This also opens up the printer port with say, a simple switch.

Re: AY-3-8912 compatibility.
That thought occurred to me too, so I added a SIP resistor pack to the side of one of the AY-3-8912A’s and it made no difference. Just for kicks, I even moved the common lead to the other supply rail and it still made no difference. Thus, the pull-ups don’t matter. It appears the Oric uses this port...

AY-3-8912 compatibility.
Soooo, I have a great big bag of AY-3-8912A sound chips which all appear to work great everywhere else I’ve used them, but fail to work in either my Oriclone-1 project (much to my dismay) or a real Oric. I had to borrow an AY-3-8912 non A version when I found that my Oriclone-1 keyboard was misbehav...

Re: Atmos, WDC65C02 and WDC65C22N and other
I know this last comment is quite an old one, but the S and N versions of the W65C22 differ in their nIRQ pin behaviour. The S version having a totem-pole output and the N version having an open drain output. In actual fact, there are more differences in pin behaviour that have consequences for peri...

Who Makes the Erebus?
Hey! I wonder who makes the Erebus. I don’t have one yet and would like to know more.

Re: Imma Just Gonna Leave This Here….
I really want people to be able to load and save to SD card and use a joystick too. I also need to get my hands on some addons to ensure hardware compatibility. I guess it’s time to go shopping.

Re: Imma Just Gonna Leave This Here….
Well, I used a rockwell 6502 instead of the current WDC part in this case because of the differing opcode behaviour for reasons of compatibility, and TBH, whilst stronger, better, faster are great, I do appreciate how too many superpowers cause community fragmentation. The Oric community is too smal...

Re: Imma Just Gonna Leave This Here….
There’s enough in common that it could be done, but I think improving the expansion capability to add various super features may come first. It’d be nice to add an SD card slot, an extra more capable sound chip and joystick interface too. USB ROM update would be pretty good for the experimenter, and...
