Hello again!
My girlfriend got her hands on an 386 LapTop (?!)
Brand: "Acer AnyWare 386s"
Info link: http://www.bttr-software.de/members/robert/aw386s/
It's quite small laptop, much smaller than the current new ones...
But it also have (sig) only 20Mhz CPU (Aaaaa!?!?)
I am currently in the process of forming it's Nickel-Cadmium battery...
And I wonder would it be capable of running Euphoric?
What is your experience regarding this matter?
Do I stand any chance of executing an Euphoric on this kind of (386CPU) computer?
Or - what is the slowest (minimum) system requirements for running the Euphoric?
The slowest computer that I have used Euphoric on is my old 486 (with 100Mhz CPU and 16MB RAM).
It has Win95 on it and runs Euphoric for up to (maximum) 8,5Mhz of (emulated) Oric CPU!
But, on 386 with just 20Mhz CPU I wonder will Euphoric manage to boot at all?
Under plain DOS (no Windows on 386)?
What is the oldest PC computer capable of running Euphoric?

You've almost answered your own question.Brana wrote:The slowest computer that I have used Euphoric on is my old 486 (with 100Mhz CPU and 16MB RAM).

The 486 is more powerful, but is running Windows as well. On that basis I guess the 20Mhz 386 running DOS should cope with Euphoric at normal speed. Its a DOS emulator so should certainly run.

I recall Fabrice made optimisations for the 386 computers in the early versions of Euphoric.
Euphoric wav able, IIRC, to run at 4x speed in my 486 dx2/66.
But I'm not sure the latest versions are still written specifically to run on 386 computers, you should try reading the history files. You might need to run an old version.

it should run o.k. from dos,
one bit of advice - replace the harddrive with a compact-flash card & ata-adapter.
the drive will be ancient, slow & power humgry.
and you dont know how much life it has left.
and use freedos if you can.

The first computer that I run Euphoric was 80286 with 768 kb ram, And it was working fine. There should be no problem with 386

I did run Oric emulator on ST.
It was slow, a little bit. But it was working and very convenient because I could use ST floppy disk.
