EPROM blower

I've never had an EPROM burner. With ULA's becoming available I may run out of Oric ROM chips.

Having a look on Ebay I found some EPROM burners that are cheap. Would these work OK to burn Oric ROMs? The chips seem compatible.

Is it easy enough using these burners?

I heard mention of erased EPROMs, so can used ones be wiped and reburnt? I have some Oric disk interface ROMs - some I sent to Jean, but he said they were faulty.

If it can programme 2764 and 27128 then OK for Oric ROMs.

Them are easy to use.

Yes, but you must use a lamp of ultraviolet beams to erase the EPROMs.

If I recall correctly, I bought an Eprom burner for 55 euros, and a ultraviolet thing to clear them around 60 euros.
I'm not using them much (lack of time) but managed to burn Eproms easily. That being said, I recall finding the right software was not so easy, I had to search in forums and try a couple (and use several Eproms) before the 1st success.

EPROM erasers can be got for around £10 now.

The software comes with these burners but I have Win7 64-bit and they say it won't work with that. I guess I'll have to get the old XP system working unless they come up with newer software that works with Win7 64bit.

Don't mess with EPROM, use an EEPROM they are cheaper as new and more reliable. (and don't need an UV light to erase them)

For EEPROM Programmer, check for the MiniPro TL866(A)

They are chinese stuff of course, but the build quality is quite good, and the software works well. It's really low price and get a good review from Dave Jones, for thoses who know who he is.

I agree with Godzil - I have TL866 (hacked to become TL866A) - no problems so far with EPROMS and EEPROMS.
For me it's useful as 74xxx TTL chip tester too.

Never heard of EEPROM before. What chips would I use for Oric ROMs ?

Any of the 28C, 28F, 29C or 29F pin compatible chips (and which have a size of 128Kbit)

Some informations here:

Flash chip would be better, but they are not necessarily in the same package and pin compatible..
