One of the chaps that got some Oric stuff from me has set up a Oric section on the Atari forum pages.

Re: New Oric Forum
I didn't know this forum.
Seems to be a good one.
I'm waiting for my activation link.

Mine came through quite quickly. Maybe get them to send it again ?
Re: New Oric Forum
Interesting, thanks
I've to say that the englishness (if that's a word) is strong in that one, reading posts sounds like being in a pub full of "mates" and "chaps"

Re: New Oric Forum
Baz is trying to keep it light-hearted so the comments are a bit - erm, different.
I doubt the rival forum will mount much of a challenge to this one.

Re: New Oric Forum
I don't see other Oric related forums as "rivals"
As far as I'm concerned, the more Oric stuff there is around the better.
Defence-Force stuff is clearly biased toward development, being either software or hardware, technical help, answering questions, exchanging tips and tricks, etc...
There's almost no nostalgia, list of best games, how did you get your first Oric, etc... (probably because of the way I created the categories in first place) and that's totally fine, because that would probably make moderation a lot more difficult!

Re: New Oric Forum
Yes, I guess that was a very tongue-in-cheek 'rival'.
OUM used to have a lot of reminiscing and letters saying how people with an Oric felt like they were the only one, for example. I guess many of us had a similar story. I think most of us still using Orics have some level of programming or hardware ability or interest. (I don't have much ability but I'm interested
I guess Ataris were more games-based, so Atari users are looking at the games straight away. I will have to get my Atari 8-bits out to see what they are. I can't remember properly it's been so long since I used them. But I did get the ST running an Oric emulator. It was too slow. It needs a Falcon to emulate the Oric. I'll have to get the ST running and see if my old floppies can be read on it. Maybe some of the Atari guys will think in a similar way and think about firing up an Atmos? Who knows ?
