Minigame compo 2007

Post by Dbug »

The 2007 edition of the compo is started.

More information here: http://minigamecomp.org.uk

Important things to remember is that the 3 different size competitions have different deadlines:
- 1k category, this will run until 31st July
- the 2k size category will run until August 31st
- the 4k size will run until September 30th

If anyone plan to do something for the compo, please indicate it here.
Would be nice if we could avoid have 3 different SUDOKU games :D

I'm hoping to get Puck-Man 2k on before 8/31. All I need to do is figure out how to get an .ASM file out of a .tap file. How do I go about doing that? And apparently, this will be the only Oric game in the compo this year?

Not sure about what you meant.

You have a .TAP file, and you need to transform it in a source code format ? Why ?

The usual problem is to do the opposite thing :)

I think the Minigame Compo people want an .asm file in the zip file you submit. This game was done in BASIC, so I don't know how to go about doing that.

You are never obliged to submit the source code for your minigame.
Some (me included) do it because we want people have examples of code, but in you case for a BASIC program the source is the program itself.

Don't worry about source code, and just give your tape file :)

(But think about taking a nice screen shot, and add a small text file with explanation about what the game is, and how to play it)

Perhaps I misunderstood Chris on the Minigame forum, but I got an impresssion that he wanted to compile the Basic program to pure machine code. I don't know why, other than in case the compo was only open for machine code entries, and those written in Basic or another interpreted language were not allowed. However, that is clearly not the case.
