Tyrann for Android smartphones
Tyrann for Android smartphones
Hi there,
Take a look on Google Play, Tyrann for smartphones has been released yesterday. It was made by the complete original Norsoft team. You should find an English version.
I don't have the required hardware to try it, so let us know how it feels!

Interesting.
Considering that Norsoft is apparently still alive and using the Tyrann brand, I think it would be a good idea to rename the Tyrann 3 project to something else, if only because the project is using some other copyrighted elements (GoT).
Using other people intellectual properties is always a dangerous game to play, and I'd rather avoid the community to receive some letters from attorneys asking for moneys and compensation for lost revenues or whatever other supposed reason.
Better do that before doing an official release that is going to be republished in various blogs and magazines.
Just saying.

Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
As long as we don't make money out of it I don't think we risk much.
At worst we risk to get a "cease and desist" order and we'll just need to remove every copyrighted matter out of it (pictures and names mostly).
It's basically the same problem as with Space 1999.
Oh and I don't really think we'll get lots of blogs and magazines reviews

Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
IIRC I gave Maximus the contact info for the Norsoft team, and I think they are aware of Tyrann 3 project.
So it's fine on Norsoft side (not GoT though, I don't have any contact info there )

Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
Dbug is right, but if Maximus contacted them and thy don't care, then it's ok. Or if they don't reply in a reasonable time, I guess.
The problem with Skool daze was they answered with some concerns about an Oric version jeopardizing their iOS version. This was despite the Oric version being free, and it is understandable. After some conversations, they were kind not to oppose
I don't think that will be an issue here, but they may have a problem with the name (in case they want to launch their own Tyrann 3 game). Sending them an email kindly asking for permission is always a good idea.

Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
I have downloaded the game with my samsung note 4 phone. It gave an error in french that I did not understand.
Also I wish they make it in english too I've commented in that way in games google play page.

I do think Maximus did - but he'll confirm himself I guess.Chema wrote:Sending them an email kindly asking for permission is always a good idea.
The boss of Norsoft also posts on Oric.org forums from time to time, so he certainly didn't miss it.
Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
I'm more concerned about Norsoft being contacted by HBO's attorneys.
For Space: 1999 I did contact Granada Ventures and added on the web page clear copyright information: http://space1999.defence-force.org

Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
Either we modify the game completely or just hope it will stay under the radars like the ton of websites about the books and the series that are using names and images.
Now again changing the name so that to avoid Norsoft being contacted by the TV series owners might be a good idea.
I will talk about it with Maximus.
Anyway Tyrann 2 was never an official name of "Le fer ..." wasn't it ?

Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
I've contacted with the programmers. They respond to me. They advice to remove and reinstall the game but again not solved.
Strange.

Re: Tyrann for Android smartphones
Maximus confirmed that he has the authorization of Remy Gosselin from Norsoft.
Maybe simply removing all references to the TV series (which I will not name here) from public posts about the game will be enough.
The chances that the TV series or the books owners attorneys will play the game are very low
Dbug, would it be possible for you to remove all the references to the TV series from posts in this and the other thread ?
I'll do it from my posts.
