Global Game Jam 2015

Post by Dbug »

During the weekend I was participating to the Global Game Jam event, in the Oslo section.

Here is what I came up with:
http://globalgamejam.org/2015/games/weekend-oslo

It's not finished, a lot of things are missing (including sound), there are some glitches, placeholder texts, but I'm planning to finish it one of these days.

Enjoy :)

Thanks Dbug, I really enjoyed reading your story.
I liked the sentence in bold and I think you can put even more accent on '48' and capital 'O':
"... It's a game about a 48 hours deadline happening in Oslo written by a guy in Oslo with a 48 hours deadline for 48k Oric!"
Cheers ;)

I continued working on the game, mostly the pure tech demo part:

Indeed Dbug. This new graphics are impressive! You are mastering the AIC method now... I know who to ask whenever I need help in future projects ;)

I tried your game this weekend and found it really fun to play! The graphics are really nice and I really enjoyed your visuals effects.

Definitely some ideas to steal for the future :)

Congratulations!

Actually, I added the native support for AIC and Alpha Chanel in PictConv, so you will not have to HIDE anymore :D
I'm still experimenting with the graphics possibilities and limitations, and well there's only that much memory and storage :)

Regarding the "game", it's mostly an empty shell of a game, a lot of things are missing:
- All the objectives are not supposed to be on the map all the time, you should have to discover or activate them doing some specific actions
- "Visiting" is supposed to show in details the location where you are
- The navigation is supposed to be based on the distance, not just linear order in a pre-made list
- The time spent and the cost should be dependent on the transport mode and the distance between places
- It's missing random events (beggars, ticket control, etc...)
etc, etc...

It's not yet committed.

I had to do some changes in a number of places, and I have to make sure it's still correctly generating other type of pictures.
