Re: Pulsoids

Imo, Twilighte was in his own league, as far as I know he is the only one achieving this level of quality all by himself. Exactly, Dbug. I didn't mean to discount all the other amazing Oric coders currently bringing so much joy to us zealots and newbies alike .. just that Twilighte really shone in ...

Re: GoogleEarth.dsk [Troll]

I mean, there really is already an effort to glom an ESP32 to the Oric, and (probably combining it with a fair bit of Oric Exos) in that scenario we know for sure that the ESP32 can have libpipi co-processing duties .. so yeah, we might just have to return to this topic and compare notes, once every...

Re: Wurlde - Game Development Forum

I managed, a few years back, to build WURLDE (and also SWIV) from the sources, and have spent a few hours reading the code - but there is *much* to comprehend, and Twilighte was a very keen and efficient thinker who made decisions along the various paths he took, which often meant back-tracking a bi...

Re: Various MS-Basics

Having cut my teeth as a coder in those days I can tell you from recollection why we always had these kinds of customized systems .. Because each system had its own hardware designers and they had ideas for what the machine could do, but the software guys either had to have mad skills (Oric/Spectrum...

Re: Pulsoids

He was a wonderful bloke who did a LOT for the Oric community - we are still reaping the benefits of his hard work and discoveries, and there is yet to rise an Oric star to match his brilliance, imho (although rax and DBug are in his league, imho..)

No. We can do things the C64 can't, and the C64 can do things the Oric can't. Its best to have both.

Re: Pulsoids

Easily one of the top 10 games on Oric, in terms of overall satisfaction. I've played it for hours and hours ..

Re: OSDK 1.20

As always, much affection to you for making a new OSDK release... added to my "next oric session TODO" file ..

EDIT: I feel the need to mention that OSDK runs great on WINE and has for many years.

Re: Sharing my experience of an Atmos resurrection (thread)

Refurbishing this magical toy of our teen years and playing these old games is like a time travel. Now that you've gotten things booted up, you must surely enjoy the fact that there is a plethora of TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY Oric titles to explore. Your daughter will *certainly* have something more to t...

Re: Sharing my experience of an Atmos resurrection (thread)

This was a great journey to follow and you provided us all with quite some gems! Congrats on the working Atmos and for bringing the joy of that era to this generation too .. something a lot of us old-timers like to see, over and over (at least in my case) ..

Re: what we consider a FPGA, ¿Hardware or emulation?

Two (three) different things, imho: * A: One CPU pretending to be another: emulation * B: FPGA gates fused into place to implement hardware specs: re-implementation * C: real hardware For some, its CBA, for others its ACB, for other lunatics its ABC. Emulation and re-implementation (on FPGA/etc.) ar...
