Re: Microdisc replacement project
I received mine, and it's working fine on the two machines I tested (Oric 1 and Atmos). I'm going to update the preorder page with a new section with received ones and tested equipment, including which sdcard worked. Might be a good idea to list the serial numbers of the tested orics (it may turn o...

Cumulus Firware Compilation
Hello, I'm currently trying to debug a problem with my new loader, which involves the following process: - Modify the code on the PC - Build the new DSK - Copy the DSK file to the SD Card (and eject it properly) - Move the SD Card to Cumulus - Select the DSK file - Select 'reset oric' and press YES ...

Re: Android emulator
I am sorry that you did not see the credits entry of the page, I will remove the tap files anyway. I saw the credits. The point is that the information should follow the file. The original distribution had a nfo file, it is not supposed to be removed. 10€ is not even the price of a meal in Paris, o...

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
This is fantastic! I loved listening to those tunes (I really always loved the Outrun theme). I am not really convinced that in-game music is really a good idea. At least I always end up disabling it. You enjoy it the first time you play, but after a while... However for intros, specific events, co...

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
New version, this time with 11 musics (I added Outrun, Commando, Ghostbusters and Supercars) and with Rainbow Island fixed.
The problem with Rainbow Islands was caused by a bug in the converter, which is fixed, so please use only version 1.4 or later of Ym2Mym.- Tue Jan 14, 2014 8:19 pm

Re: Android emulator
Hmm, I checked the page, and I have to say that I don't like having my demos downloadable as .TAP and .DSK without the .NFO or any information about the authors.
As far as I'm concerned, it's not nice.

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
I am mostly focused on "I'm in the process of simplifying it all." sentence :) Thank you again. I'm about to submit the simplification. So basically last week in order to use an Atari ST music on the Oric you had to: * Find the song you want in the STSOUND archive * Rename the file from ....

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
Now that's great ! Thank you :) This is exactly doing what I wanted. So, how can we transfer such music data to oric? Is there a special operation to do or just adding oric header is enough? It's slightly more complicated than that, and there are still more phases than I wish they were, but I'm in ...

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
I made a small test for you: ArcadeMusics.dsk Contains three musics: - Bubble Bobble - Giana Sisters - Rainbow Islands You can see the size of the music files on the floppy (from 3 to 6 kilobytes, some musics are much bigger than that), on top of that you have to add the 3584 bytes of temporary buff...

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
Rendering .MID files with the Oric is clearly easy, and fun; after all the Yamaha YM2419 is a constant in the chiptune legacy, and the reason is that its a great synthesis chip, even still today. Let's agree that we disagree. My best example would be the games like King Quest or Space Quest on the ...

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
One thing I'd like to say is that the reason to do standard MIDI on the Oric is that it will thus integrate into a lot of things. The MIDI port on the Telestrat may not be usable, but the Oric can have a MIDI interface .. and this is enough to do very interesting things, such as actually using it a...

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
I'm using the YM tunes for the same reasons as you wanting to use MIDI: I do not have the time or skills to compose musics. That being said, there are active musicians on YM (Ay Riders, YM Rockers, ...) who are willing to compose music for Atari, Amstrad, MSX or Spectrum games. My last try to convin...

Re: MIDI play for Oric.
Why I insist on MIDI format ? Because, we have vast supply of midi archive of every kind of music. Its so easy to find and convert and edit with PC utilities. The problem of your vast supply of midi archive is that it was made assuming a certain degree of polyphony. When we were using MIDI for our ...
