Re: Another Twilighte's magic trick?
Yea, it's fascinating. Here are the 'magic' bytes:
Though it's so simple, to invent and use the trick one should have a special Oric-way of thinking ... or be Twi.

Re: HRC in the works
When recently I've played with Macadam Bumper I noticed the defect in the picture and wondered to myself if this is result from K7 transfer error? Else I was thinking if we can hide somehow the compressed garbage being displayed before the real image and  maybe it's theoretically doable: - sou...

Re: HRC in the works
It works! Big thumbs up from me + pictoric by @sam + HRC by @Symoon - here is the result and the TAP:
HRC_v1.0_beta compiled under Linux/GCC without issues and it works as expected.
Well done!

Re: HRC in the works
https://youtu.be/XUskSz0GVxw The program pokes 28 (60 Hz HIRES display) in every cell in range #BF40-#BF67 and waits 500ms after each to allow ULA to "interpret" the attribute - the result is vertical frequency remains at 50Hz. At end POKE#BF68,28 is executed and mode is set to 60Hz. ... ...

Re: HRC in the works
Congrats, Symoon! It's cool and works fine by me.
Else I've checked and there is no problem with addresses in both ranges: #BFE0-BFFF and #BF40-#BF67 - if once HIRES is set they can hold any value and no impact on ULA's work.

Re: USB to IDC 20 / Centronics?
Maybe it's inside like this one HERE.
Can you take a picture from backside of Oric and MCP-40 how they are connected with the ribbon cable.
Important is to see where goes the first line (i.e. the red wire).

Re: USB to IDC 20 / Centronics?
About the USB to MCP-40 converter: I just realized that maybe there is even better solution.
If the back connector of your MCP-40 is like this ORIC-1 model:
Then you can use this appropriate converter:

Re: USB to IDC 20 / Centronics?
The short answer is yes, ... almost :). The problems are: 1. I think there is no "ready-to-use" USB to IDC-20 cable. The best choice is to use USB to DB25 female with an additional converter DB25 male to IDC-20 <- NOTE: DON'T BUY THIS ONE ! It's NOT for printers, the link is for visual ref...

This ONE ? IMHO the price is high but with (more) beer one can gulp it .
But anyway, retro-fun is priceless! Congrats and happy Oric-ing!

Re: Poverty Game
Interesting and educational!
Just one small note: the game is for Oric-1. It works in Atmos mode too, but because of the two first protected columns, the table formatting looks broken.
Thanks for sharing.

Indeed, with all these new high-resolution monitors this is an issue - and it's already addressed by TotoShampoin a zoom feature #135 ... so, waiting to see when it will happen .

Re: Le diamant de l'île maudite tap not working
Well, in my opinion the TAP file is OK and it should work "as is". All "BASIC errors" on your pictures are actually because TapOric is being fooled by the BASIC-ID-BYTE in TAP-headers and when you use the internal viewer the result is simply crap :D. The real BASIC part must have...
