Re: Modern Software Packaging

I did a new pass of cleaning, fixing, centering, etc... and I came up with the four pictures in this folder: http://www.defence-force.org/download/oric/games/print/ could you guy go and do a quick check, and tell me if there's anything shockingly wrong, strange, etc... I've been looking at these th...

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

Ha ha, wait wait wait ;) I'm not talking about validating new improvements. For this, of course I use real Orics, about 5 of them! I'm talking about debugging my code in which I often make mistakes in a new version ;) Novalight code is self-modifying, it's a real hell (for me) to follow on paper an...

Re: Oricutron macOS 10.14: Unable to open roms

Ok, I finally found the issue with the ROMs loading. Since Oricutron is meant to be built from Xcode as an App bundle (which is essentially a folder containing the executable and a bunch of other folders and resources), it changes the current directory, and changes it to three folders above the bund...

Re: Oricutron macOS 10.14: Unable to open roms

>Have you simply tried to delete statusbar.bmp and replace it with another file? Yes, I've tried everything, including re-cloning. I don't get it either, but haven't had time to debug it further. Well, that does not make any sense, this looks like a system level bug. Deleting the file and replacing...

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

Also, I still do not understand why you modify your code to also work with Oricutron, I think you should definitely not do so. That's because it's a major debugging tool for me ;) Euphoric already doesn't work anymore, and without Oricutron I'd be blind to understand what happens in case of failure...

Re: Oricutron macOS 10.14: Unable to open roms

I tried to build it last week and ran into the same issue. I didn't get it resolved - it seems there is some permissions/sandbox issue with regards to being able to read some files, which - for reasons I didn't understand yet - got blacklisted in MacOS recently. [...] I think on MacOS 10.14.x going...

Oricutron macOS 10.14: Unable to open roms

Hi, I just managed to build the latest GitHub Oricutron on macOS (a story for another time) but I get the following error when launching it from the command line: $> ./oricutron -m oric1 -k none Unable to open 'roms/microdis.rom' Unable to open 'roms/jasmin.rom' Unable to open 'roms/8dos2.rom' Unabl...

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

So many improvements one after another that I am now officially completely lost as to what the actual progression is. :D Maybe you should setup a page somewhere (possibly http://wiki.defence-force.org/doku.php?id=oric:software:novalight ? ;)) so the current status is clear. Also, I still do not unde...

Re: Securing sources of (official) Oric chips

I received the chips as well from both vendors.
I now have around 20 of these, if you need some, just ping me and I will send it at purchase price + shipping.

Re: CC65 to DSK

Hey, this plays really nicely, that is definitely a great effort! It takes a bit of training to get the hang of how the car behaves, but that is rather a good thing. I concur with the remarks regarding controls: I got stuck on the first map wondering how to move the car forward. ;) Note that it migh...

Re: OSDK 1.14 RC

I guess you guys are indeed onto something regarding paths and spaces. I am using the downloaded 1.14RC3 version to which I added support %OSDK% paths with spaces (which I use constantly) by fixing bin/execute.bat and bin/make.bat. I suspect that my changes miss a few cases but I do not understand ...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

Nobody knew how to lock-step 4 ULAs in the 1980s, or if they did, they were keeping very quiet about it ;) And even if they did, they would have needed to buy four Orics, which was not especially cheap, as well as design and print PCBs manually because there were no PCB design tools available on th...

Re: Oricutron and illegal opcode 80

Anyway it's interesting, because if this file is from a different source, it confirms that the bug is on the original tape, hence Durell had a very unreliable masters for their tapes duplication (there were also strange things in Scuba Dive IIRC). I initially thought that this may be part of a prot...
