ZX81+38 Clone
Not really Oric based but I had five of these PCB’s made in Red and I have three going spare. The ZX81+38 is a clone of the ZX81 that does not need a genuine ZX81 ULA and instead uses Logic chips. It has composite out built in and can also support 32KB or RAM to allow you to use Hires graphics. The ...

Re: Cumana Disk Interface
Yes my friend near Paris has bought one so I’m waiting to see what they are like. Sadly Zaxon does not ship to the U.K. currently and SMR does not allow users based in the U.K. to purchase anything from abroad.

Has anyone else noticed Zaxon is selling Cumana disk interface minus the Gotek drive?

Re: Cumana Disk Interface Logic
Thanks Steve, I am going to get another PSU and keep trying. I bought one of the new Omniflop Gotek PCB’s to try so will keep on tinkering.

Re: Cumana Disk Interface Logic
One easy thing to try: if you have working Microdisc interface then you can use Microdisc's EPROM with the Cumana interface and FF/HxC floppy emulator. It has gone back to my friend now so I don’t have access to any other disk drives. I do have a secondary Cumana PCB that I planned to power with 5v...

Re: Cumana Disk Interface Logic
I have a 3.5” Drive and some 3.5” Disks but no means of putting Sedoric on a real 3.5” disk to test it.
I have adjusted the 2.2K Variable resistor several times and it seems to be in the best setting to give the boot screen.

Re: Cumana Disk Interface Logic
Hi Dbug, I get the “Insert System Disk” message on the screen, sometimes I get a activity light on the Gotek but nothing is loaded. The Gotek is running the HxC firmware, I do have another with Flash Floppy and it does the same. I have tried different Floppy cables and cables connecting to the Oric ...

Cumana Disk Interface Logic
I have been trying to get my self-built Cumana interface to work on and off for a couple of years now without success. I have tested all the LS Logic IC’s and bought new FDC’s and burned new ROM’s without any success. The PCB tracks all go where they should, no shorts or breaks. So I am baffled real...

Re: A problematic Oric 1
HM4864P-2 and HM4864-2 are 150ns access time 270ns cycle time according to the data sheet so they should be okay. HM4864-3 are the 200ns part.

Re: A problematic Oric 1
I cannot remember who did it off the top of my head but one of the guys on here created a new main PCB as a like for like copy, or he had some bare PCB’s. I’m pretty sure they were new ones so someone might have the Gerber files to have some new boards made. I had some Spectrum PCB’s made in white f...

Re: A problematic Oric 1
Is there a reason TR1 was removed? The state of the back of the PCB means broken tracks and vias are the most likely source of the problem. It would need tracing and testing. You could fit a test ROM just in case it’s an IC but it might not be the actual chip and be the tracks connecting the chip to...

Re: Rodman on Itch.io
It’s not often we get a new game that was released commercially these days sadly, but I was pleased that Misfit put the Oric version on itch.io

Re: Rodman on Itch.io
You’re welcome, they ( Future was 8 Bit ) released some of the other formats as £4.99 cassettes but have no plans to release a stand alone Oric tape. So this is the only way to get hold of it currently. It was a pretty impressive feat to program all the different versions in tandem, they must share ...

Rodman on Itch.io
Hi, I asked Misfit to add the Oric version of Rodman to the Itch.io page as it was previously only available on the physical special edition boxed set from The Future was Eight Bit. He added the CPC and MSX versions as well :D It is free but If you enjoy it please consider making a donation to the a...
