Re: A new well-known compiler
Well - correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you talking about a Cross-compiler? I'm sure we can find tons of decent C compilers to cross-compile - but what I would find very productive for teaching my kids C is if they didn't need another machine to cross-compile, but could instead use the Oric itsel...

Re: A new well-known compiler
I'd love to have a decent C compiler on the Oric - maybe something that can really exploit the new-found power of Cumulus, perhaps, to give the Oric at least a decent way of building optimized apps in a language other than Basic, without requiring the investment into an archaic assembly language. Th...

Re: Replic'Oric
The "NewOric" project is mainly a project to try to do what could have been done if Oric Product International had wanted at that time to create a (real) successor to the Atmos with 100% compatibility with it and adding intersting new features.

Re: Replic'Oric
I'm not able to run this (no Windows machine at the moment) but thought I'd add to the threads my thoughts on the 'Expanded Oric' topic.. which I will approach from the perspective of a naive dilettante, since the other end of that spectrum is well and truly covered. ;) If I were to express some 'fa...

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?
I set up for some testing on my Atmos last night, but ran into power-supply problems .. so tonight I'm going to make the V-Sync cable hack and I'd be prepared to test that for you if you like ..

Re: New Oric Phoenix or Pravetz 9D
>6. MIDI interface would be great, but not necessary. We would be able to connect portable keyboards, midi keyboards, even manage MIDI devices. That's good to have for creative persons, artists. My opinion about MIDI is that its really worth getting working on the Ori-1/Atmos machines, as a bit of a...
Re: OType
Hey sure was, Godzil. Sometimes I quite miss his enthusiasm, but then I'm glad we've got the current crop of geniuses around to keep us amused. Twi certainly set the standard high - I doubt we'll get another Oric hacker as talented as he was, any time soon - but I'd sure like to be wrong about that.

Re: Oric Kong 2013
I'm with you Dbug, one of the motivations is nostalgia - sure - but on the flipside, I hope that I can one day train my kids on how these 8-bit machines worked, and even still be doing cool things with them long into the future. I think that the complexity and cognitive load of modern machines just ...

Re: Oric Kong 2013
Hi ellis, *REALLY* great that you could join us! I never in my teens would have thought I'd *ever* find a way to communicate with the authors of these type-ins, but I recall typing in ORIC KONG on my Oric-1, one of the first in Australia, during a particularly strong stormy season at our house on th...

Re: Blue Oric 1
I'd say it, at the least, shares some design cues in the case department, with the Oric-1. It looks like a 'fat Oric', anyway, even if the keyparts are different - the intent of the designer is so similar when comparing Oric-1/Td-1000, that I'd be surprised if it at least wasn't the same mechanical ...

- I'm not sure about the Wiki, the only person to use it were Twilighte and I and it contains mostly stale information
If you and Twi were using it, then it must have become something of value. I think it'd be a pity to lose it - and thus I volunteer to help maintain it if needed.

Right, those apps do look pretty nice .. well, I guess it would be nice to hear from you what other nice titles the Pravetz8D world produced for our similar machines!
