Re: ORIC TALK BACK

I'll let you know, I haven't really opened the box yet and had a look, but I'll have an intense retro session this weekend and try to scope out as much as I can .. I don't think its that different from the other speech synths you've had experience with, but at the moment its a bit of a black box.

ORIC TALK BACK

Well, I've managed to get my hands on one more coveted Oric peripheral - the ORIC TALK BACK voice synthesizer, which was sent to me by another old-school Oric fan who made the thing himself based on the article .. kind of exciting. I'll have a poke with it over the weekend and report in when I get a...

Re: New toy: SOUNDTOY

Nice suggests, I'll do 'em .. but its supposed to be a HEX input, dunno how I can enforce that too much .. didn't even think of entering DEC, lol.

Indeed, there are a lot of choppers in the Oric .. but quite a lot of faaat synthy waveforms ripe for the plucking, too! :)

New toy: SOUNDTOY

Inspired by something I remember Twilighte saying many years ago, and in light of the recent great progress being made by other Oric fans on the subject of MIDI interface hardware, I wrote this little toy application - SOUNDTOY - which can be used to explore the Oric/Atmos ROM memory locations for '...

Re: OSDK C and the scanf() function

Hey, do either of you guys know if either sscanf or scanf are workable ways to get a hexadecimal number input from the user? I'm trying to use them but not sure whats I'm not quite getting right .. char in[32]; int v; printf("P:"); v=scanf("%x", in); printf("\nin:%s v:%d&quo...

Re: 1invader [raxiss]

rax for President Oric!

Awesome game, I wish there were more in this mode, it always presents such a strange aesthetic, but as you have demonstrated with some artistic liberty the blocks become irrelevant and the art forms in front of ones face.

Nice!

Re: Mageco MIDI interface

Looks great! A neat and tidy MIDI parser, for when the time is right .. easily ported: https://github.com/nejohnson/miby/blob/master/src/miby.c I guess we're going to see some hot Oric Synth action soon! Exciting! Count me in when you're ready to ship interface.. I imagine a multi-timbral Oric rig s...

Re: Free Petscii Robots for the Oric-1 / Atmos

Thats really nice to see the Oric featured like that .. hope this will gain a bit more of visibility for our machine in that context.

Would be cool to see what could be done with colours, but I guess thats a thread for another time .. ;)

Re: Wurlde - Game Development Forum

It really astounds me to see WURLDE over the years, it is just a truly timeless place. Every time I wonder at the reflections and the delightful solutions to Oric's unique colour capabilities, it just transports me into a world that could have been. Those fountains! Twilighte you delightful human be...

Looks absolutely enticing.

If there is an ESP32 shield in the future, I'm all-in.

Re: Upgrade Time: Encounter

Excellent progress, Dbug.

Your aesthetic is very appealing - as I see these transitions and details in your demo's, I can't help but be reminded of early multimedia engines such as Hypercard and so on.

Also, the monochrome style gives me real early Macintosh vibes.

Re: Mageco MIDI interface

Opto-copling really only needs to be done once. Nasty cables is what its for. It is not uncommon to see it only on the IN, as that is after all where the protection happens. If there's a chance to be included in any PCB batches, count me in. I've wanted MIDI on my Oric since the very early days. Apr...
