Re: Compression

Given the current penchant for alternating colours on every line, would it be worth scanning every column twice, once for even lines and once for odd lines? I'm curious of the impact this would have as an option.

Re: Oricutron for android (POC)

Doesn't seem slow on my tablet, the auto starting demo is running at 50fps according to the emu. I'm on an Asus ME301T.

Menus are fiddly even on 10", but impressive work.

Sorry, but I didn't become a customer of theirs until a few years ago, so I missed these. I might have changed bank sooner if I'd known.

Good to know, as that's what I planned to use once I get an adapter to reverse the polarity (don't want to cut the cable so I can still use it vwith my Speccy).

Re: Flappy Oric :)

With some clever setting up, you could do it fast in basic. Have first game area column as char A, next game area column as char B, and so on. Define all of those chars to be blank. Now you can plot a 'hole' by placing a strip or three of unused character across the screen for your blank, then redef...

Re: Cumulus Preorder Thread

I collected my Cumulus from the Post Office today. Once I get a suitable PSU I'll test it. What are the current recommended PSUs? Do we have a 'standard' one that doesn't need polarity selecting or anything that can be ordered online?

Re: Cumulus Preorder Thread

Whats happening? AndyRCM has just posted pics on facebook showing they have received theirs. I am one down in the list, yet I have not had a PM or message or head anything yet. Is this special treatment for the select few, getting theirs before the others or have I missed something? Mine is in the ...

30 years since you started, and almost 3 years for this version alone. Well done for sticking with it, that's taken dedication. All the more impressive when you've learnt C along the way.

Re: Android emulator

There are games that will run in 16k e.g. Light Cycles from P.S.S. I do agree that in principle, 9 pounds (which is more than 10 euros) is not a large sum. But in relative terms, compared to other similar products within the same market, it is high, especially for a new unknown quantity. I bought Sp...

Re: Android emulator

I found it. £9 is far, far too expensive. You've got serious fans like us balking at the price, so anyone else will just walk on by. I'm not suggesting you make it free. but a third of that is more realistic and comparable to other paid emulators on the platform. For example, Spectaculator, the Andr...

The IT Crowd is available to view on Channel 4 On Demand: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-it-crowd/4od As I mentioned in this thread a couple of weeks ago: http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1026 there's a documentary about the series, 'The IT Crowd Manual', where the Ori...

The option for a user to redefine the keys should be a standard in all modern games, not least for accessibility. Likewise, joystick control should be available.

This makes it unplayable for myself and most other Oric owners, not owning a disc drive. There really needs to be a digital version for download so we can emulate it at least.
