I like the binomial coefficients too, in particular how Spades becomes a Space Invader, further evolves to a creepy guy in sunglasses and ends like a space ship or some complex Chinesesque pictogram.

I'd bet interpolation would slow down the emulator a lot compared to just calculating pixels and plotting them as they come.

Nope, not Dbug but Fabrice (in 2003). The else is true though. However this particular benchmark is different from the Byte ones.

Hm, I brought up similar benchmarks (published by Byte Magazine) in the comp.sys.oric newsgroup a few years ago, and Dbug (?) back then measured the Oric 1, Atmos and I believe also Microtan. Search Google Groups for such messages. I'll look up the AtariAge thread later and add some own benchmark re...

Once at the computer club, we had a drawer full of floppy drives, mostly Mac and/or IBM PS/2 so not easily used in any of the computers we actually used. It was a bit frustrating to know they probably were good working floppy drives, but with no apparent use.

Since a PC drive with a few cable twists can be used on an Amiga, I don't think it is out of the question to use an Amiga drive for this cause. Basically, it seems the Chinon FB-354 was used as the internal drive both in Amiga 500 and Atari 520ST. I think it is the floppy drive controller that handl...

If I understand correctly, the freezer carts on the C64 are possible due to a special memory map inherited from the somewhat obscure gaming console Ulti-MAX Machine.

Currently I have one mono 1084 RCA/DIN/SCART and one stereo 1084S RCA/DB9. The SCART input seems to be flawed, the picture is rolling while the composite video is steady. On the 1084S, the composite video is flawed but the analog RGB works fine. Some of those days I might be able to diagnose which f...

Sarko Seal! I heard the poor (?!) man is going through a divorce. Maybe he and his wife had run out of bubble wrap.

Interesting last link. I tried to build the mmbeeb interface earlier this fall, but I didn't get it to work out, possibly due to the type of cable I used. I may try to build this C64 one too, even if the software support yet seems sketchy.

The French only use the finest, virgin oil to produce top-class plastic bubble wrap. Then it is seasoned in a climate-controlled bubble wrap cellar for at least three years before it is sold, quality "Fine". Bubble wrap that has been stored for six years may be called "Grand Fine"...

Aha. The USA is Zone C, for which a 9 kg package costs 66 Euro. Perhaps a loose Atmos with a lot of books, padding and other unmentioned extras could end up there.

Yes, I saw that. I don't know how efficient the C compilers that support the Oric is, but at least cc65 tends to use quite a deal of memory. Since the original game was 48K of tight packed 6502 machine code (Atari 800), I think even a down scaled version would be hard to fit into that memory using a...

With so many French fellows on this site, surely someone can estimate the weight of an Atmos and based on La Poste's (or should that be Chronopost?) postage tables tell us what the base cost would be to ship one to the UK? 65 Euros definitely sounds like a lot of "padding" (not in the pack...

As far as I know, the 6510 is a basic 6502 with an extra I/O port to allow it to bank switch ROMs over RAM. The number of illegal op-codes should be the same, and thus no extra official instructions not present in the original 6502. The 65C02 however is another story.
