Re: Video output without SCART/RGB

My year old Panasonic LED TV doesn't have a SCART socket already but they included a cable that has a Female SCART block to some type of special edge connector to connect to a AV1 port which is on the back. Maybe other manufacturers will do the same ?. So we may still be able to connect "legacy" tec...

Oric Nova 64 & Partial Disk Drive - eBay France

Hi peeps. Don't know if it's allowed but I thought I would let you know there is a Oric Nova 64 on eBay France with parts of the Disk Drive ( I think it's missing the floppy drive ) it seems to have a keyboard/ULA problem as well as some of the keys don't work. Not really after one of these myself b...

Re: Is my atmos dying?

Been away for a while so missed this. As has been pointed out earlier I had a problem with my eBay Atmos taking several cold boots before it was stable and replacing C21 fixed the problem. They are really cheap to buy ( £1ish ) and easy to fit.

Re: Cumulus replacement ?

If I needed to pay up front to enable a production run of a revised Cumulus to take place I would be prepared to do that. Not sure how everyone else feels about that though.

Re: Oricium feedback and review thread

Thanks for your nice comments guys. They are really appreciated. If there were enough players it would be nice to have some kind of contest. And maybe not only for your score, but for instance to see the first one being able to identify all the songs, and maybe spot all the references to the 80s.. ...

Re: Oric Atmos query

Well I have replaced all 3 electrolytic capacitors that are on the board. I replaced C21 first and quickly tested the Atmos and it seemed to have cured the problem it booted straight away :D :D :D However, I thought that while I have my soldering iorn in use I would change the other 2 as well then a...

Re: Oric Atmos query

A friend of my association told me that it was a bad idea to change capacitors if they are not dead. There is a good chance that the new ones that you'll install will be of a worse quality than the ones you already have and therefore you'll need to change them more often. For SMD (support mounted d...

Re: Oric Atmos query

I was thinking if I am going to replace one electrolytic capacitor I might as well replace all of them.

Exactly as you said - it's very temperamental or 'temperature-mental' :).
One easy thing you can do is to replace the capacitor C21 (1uF) with new one.

Re: Space:1999 feedback and review thread

I guess they already know about Space:1999... it is quite an old game; and they surely know about 1337 and the rest (a screenshot of Stormlord appears just below the review of Oricium in a small brief about colors in old 8-bit systems). BTW I am really glad that you like Space:1999. It could be enh...

Re: Oric Atmos query

Hi, I need some more advice again. This Atmos I bought is being VERY temperamental. I get a black & white chequerboard effect before it boots to the Tangerine Basic screen. If I have left the machine off for a long time it freezes on the black & white screen until I power on & off a few times. I thi...

Re: Space:1999 feedback and review thread

I think this game is brilliant but I can only emulate this one for now until Cumulus arrives :(
Seeing that Oricium has been "Sizzled" by Retrogamer magazine has anyone pointed out to them this game exists as well???

Re: Oricium feedback and review thread

This game has been reviewed in this months 'Retro Gamer' magazine and received 91% and Sizzler status. Congrats Chema !! Now that's cool ain't it? I bet no one thought back in 1983 that we'd still be seeing magazine game reviews in 2014! Not only that, but also games scoring 91%! :D :D :D Bet there...
