Re: Small game in pictures

Hehe, your game reminds me of a mashup of "Encounter" with "My Typical Day in Oslo" (http://blog.defence-force.org/index.php?page=articles&ref=ART47) One remark: Apparently you are generating the italics font by code, you could just do that, and save the result to disk so in the game you don't have ...

Re: Upgrade Time: Encounter

After a three weeks break, the Summer Update of Upgrade Time (episode 16) is finally available.

And yes, I once again epically failed to do a short one.

Whatever, it's not like that seem to annoy my three regular viewers :D

Re: BomberZ.bas and bas2tap ..

I actually made a version of Bas2Tap that natively handles the labels and do the auto-numbering. By default the tool behave as before and expects a 100% standard Oric formated BASIC line, but I added some directives that allows to bypass that. The reason I did that is that I'm not 100% confident tha...

Re: Oric Atmos Boot-Up Query

All the time using the same powerbrick, or have you tried with different ones?

I know that one of my Atmos was booting differently depending of which power brick I used.

I just did an upgrade to phpBB, hopefull nothing broke and nothing was lost, but please tell me if you got any problem.
(I also wanted to upgrade to the latest Ubuntu LTS but it does not look like it's fully available yet, going to wait a bit longer for that)

Re: Oric Atmos Manual Wanted

Technically, you could probably also try to get the "The COMPANION to the ORIC 1" book by Ian Adamson. It's the book that ultimately became the user manual for the Oric Atmos. There is one on ebay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Companion-to-the-Oric-1-by-Ian-Adamson-PB-1983-1st-edition/2530...

Re: California Devices Inc and the HCS10017

Mike Connors works at Datel, and he has a web page here describing their reverse engineering services: https://www.rawscience.co.uk/ (...) I certainly wasn't expecting this. So I wrote back to Mike Conners asking how much I owed him for this. He replied saying that he isn't able to charge for the w...

Re: OSDK C and the scanf() function

Hello! As it happens, you are probably the first person having tried to use scanf in the OSDK since we switched to XA instead of FRAsm. Basically we forgot to convert the syntax for the scanf.s and sscanf.s files in the lib folder. I just fixed that, but until I release a new version of the OSDK you...

Re: California Devices Inc and the HCS10017

Then its only the custom metal lines that make up the "Paul Johnson designed" HCS10017 specific logic that we'll need to wait for the silicon surface photographs (i.e. die shots) to reveal the placement of. I'm really hoping to arrange for such photos to be made over the coming weeks. A decap of th...

Re: Simplest MMC Interface hardware

3) plug the usb mouse in usb port, and the hardware will return delta X & deltaY from the last access to the chip, (coordinates must be read from page 3) Driver must be written too :) This option looks like it would be much lighter on the Oric since the deltaX/Y would be read directly by the machin...

Re: Multiple IF THEN ELSE on the same line?

"Quite hard to read" is subjective. Considering that complexity is one of the parameters that makes things difficult to understand, I would say that the two lines of IF are not much simpler to decode, and despite being almost idiomatic leave the room for errors where the second variable does not mat...

Re: VirtualBasic and Oric

If you look at the episode of Upgrade Time I published last Sunday, you'll see that I'm not far from releasing a new version of Bas2Tap that natively handles labels, without any memory or performance penalty compared to native line numbers :)

I even mention Maximus in it :D
