Re: Sedoric 4.0

Hmmm I'm using 3.5 disks quite a lot and they are quite reliable in my experience. Not only with the Oric, but also on Ataris, Amigas, CPCs... My old 3 disks, on the other hand, (CPC in this case) nearly all died probably because of humidity. What usually fails is the elastic band inside the floppy ...

Re: Connectivity problems (again)

Not sure how to translate it.. it is an option of the mobile version of Chrome to save data when loading pages... it is in the config. In any case, I have been told that there is some info about how to deal with this chinese crawlers here https://www.johnlarge.co.uk/blocking-aggressive-chinese-crawl...

Re: Connectivity problems (again)

Several forums I usually visit are experiencing the same issues. Massive connections from China ISPs, mostly from Android OS. Not sure what countermeasures they implemented, but in at least two I had to deactivate the data saving option of my mobile Chrome to be able to log in. They mostly banned IP...

Only 2 guests currently, and the forum works like a charm :)

Maybe the thing is that 'defence force' is quite an attractive name for some ;)

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner

Not an electronics expert at all, but you get a stable image (and some words a few days back) so I'd bet the ULA, ROM and CPU are ok. You had sound, so the AY seems ok too and probably the VIA. I think the problem is, as usual, the memory. Did you gently touch the chips to see if any gets really hot...

Re: Connectivity problems (again)

I experienced a few strange things lately (large loading time, connecting errors, ...) but rarely, so I always thought it was on my side of the connection. Again, thanks Dbug for your efforts keeping this forum up and running. You know how grateful we are and how important it is for the Oric communi...

That is strange... did you try to upload them as zip files? What is the size?

Yep. That one will work perfectly, and it is 2A, enough to power the cumulus too :)

Re: Oric Atmos manual wanted

Before you start it, please put something on the expansion bus to make sure you don't plug the +9v on the bus by mistake. You can use an old floppy drive cable connector, some sticky tape, polystyrene, etc.. +1 and if it does not come with the original PSU, check polarity before you blow anything. ...

Re: ORIC SDCARD

Just a quick note. In the Spanish forum Retrowiki, a user just launched a batch of 15 cards with components with the info Kenneth provided and all of them were reserved in a few hours. I even missed it! I just can't believe the price is under 8 euros! (unmounted) but the list was complete even befor...

Re: USB to IDC 20 / Centronics?

I don't see why it shouldn't. After all these printers respond to commands sent through the paralell port, so it is a matter of writing the appropriate software (or driver!). And knowing the commands, of course :) I don't see the benefit of that, however. What do you have in mind, Dbug? I bet someth...

Hmmm... they may not, but I think they have a Facebook page. I'd ask them directly.

If they don't, I could act as a convenient proxy ;)
