Re: Bocco's adventures

Gave it a quick try, impressive! Funny as it doesn't look as anything we've seen before - maybe has a Stormlord look? Nice little animations everywhere. The main problem I get is that I still can't figure out much what I'm supposed to "use" (space), or what I'm supposed to "bomb". I've tried to use ...

Re: Small game: Robot

Well, thanks for trying Steve.
If I had to bet, I'd go for it to be from one of those all-computers French magazines.

Re: Zorgons Revenge demo: anyone near Cambridge, UK?

I totally want to know how to use another 8-bit machine to write code for the Oric .. is this going to be covered in CEO Mag soon? I should probably subscribe one of these days.. ;) Well the tools he used are roughly described, but don't expect to discover in complete detail what was used and how, ...

Hey, that's a demo, intended to auto-run in shops - so no interactivity beside the initial settings ;)
Oops, my mind is still on the sea beach
Well to be honest, beside the defender-like level, things are a bit still - so you'd be tempted to move the character!

Re: Atmos "Kopy"

Fabrice made an Atmos on battery and with a LCD screen, long ago ! 2 lines of text only, though ;-)

Re: Zorgons Revenge demo: anyone near Cambridge, UK?

Congrats for the great teamwork! Looking inside the TAP file there is an interesting part of assembler source: Q: Which tool was used :?: If all goes well, you should have the answer and many other in the CEO-Mag in September :D Ok, no stupid teasing; from what John Sinclair himself could remember:...

Shows again that IJK had quite a good business sense :)
Indeed - at least for sending demos for the shops!
This teaser screen is actually there because... The auto-run mode took some RAM and the last screen didn't fit in the Oric memory anymore ;)

Re: A possible software alternative to Vsync?

That's exactly what happens, I get this result, perfectly still: _vbl.png I don't have time to take a look right now, other Oric things are in a hurry ;) BTW I realised one of the 1st trying to achieve orange colour for the Oric is probably John S. Sinclair with Xenon-1 (meteors, explosions, ship en...

Re: A possible software alternative to Vsync?

Does this make sense? You're probably right, it's likely that there's a bug somewhere as, at the time, I was very incomfortable with machine code. And the code you just showed here is bugged indeed. I'd have to take a look again. And BTW, maybe I'm wrong but I think I was displaying red for 19996 c...

Re: A possible software alternative to Vsync?

Found back the old thread: http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=944 I took a look too quickly this morning: I had already found the speed that was giving perfect result on Oricutron and real Oric/CRT screen, it was 19992 according to my multiple tries and calculations. Tried it again o...

Re: A possible software alternative to Vsync?

Just for the record, in 2013 I tried to produce orange colour by displaying alternatively red and yellow. I seem to recall we had a topic discussing the amount of cycles for a VBL then. I first tried with a loop doing 20000 cycles but I ended up with several TAP files, the last one doing a loop of 1...

Re: LORES: different between ROM 1.0 and ROM1.1?

Ha ha thanks!
What's curious thought, is that the character generation routine seems to be the same for both ROMs ($F7E0 / $F816)? But I've checked quickly, maybe I'm not looking at the right place.

LORES: different between ROM 1.0 and ROM1.1?

Maybe this has been spotted and discussed before, but anyway... Did anyone notice that LORES 1 modes, which display the 2nd character set, have a different shape between Oric-1 and Oric Atmos? Noticed that when testing an unknown little game which runs in LORES. Atmos: Lores1_Atmos.png Oric-1: Lores...

Small game: Robot

Hi,
I just added this small game, found in a private tape I probably got from a seller or a gift long ago:
https://www.oric.org/software/robot-2484.html

I couldn't find the author nor where it comes from (magazine?). If anyone knows, please let me know ;)
Thanks
