Re: Oricalchum

Accidentally I've found this:
ij-orichalcum.png
and recall about your post immediately
So, the orichalcum is already used in the game industry - Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis :)
Attached is the whole manual.

(ps: the post title is misspelled)

How big is the decoding loop? (you know why I'm asking :p)
The whole decoding is 198 bytes, but 4 bytes are local variables and there are some check which can be easily removed...

Re: 5th11 - a quick made demo

Thanks for the feedback! And @Symoon, you spotted ( again! ) the most important detail of this demo - the used compression, anything else is already seen. The demo has actually 6 "full-sized" pictures which are compressed with LZ4 and the result sizes are "dramatic" :). Attached you can find origina...

Re: Connectivity problems (again)

Hello, Dbug!
Last 3-4 days (or maybe more) I have many times troubles to connect the site.
Does anybody else observed lags and dropouts? I hope it's something temporary and not serious.

Re: Sea battle

After losing a game, the computer plays first. (after all, I began the 1st game, Oric can begin the 2nd) There are no promises for fair-play - who wins current game has the honor to play first - simply "The Winner Takes It All" :). Actually I've checked and didn't find strict rules of "Sea battle" ...

Re: HRC in the works

Thanks for release! Nicely done, tested and it works fine for me. One question about output file: if the input file is multi-part like this: | PROG-1 | PICTURE-1 | PROG-2 | PICTURE-2 |... after HRC the result is: | PICTURE-1 | PICTURE-2 |... , right? What about to have an option which allows skipped...

Re: Another Twilighte's magic trick?

Yea, it's fascinating. Here are the 'magic' bytes:

Though it's so simple, to invent and use the trick one should have a special Oric-way of thinking ... or be Twi. :(

Re: HRC in the works

When recently I've played with Macadam Bumper I noticed the defect in the picture and wondered to myself if this is result from K7 transfer error? Else I was thinking if we can hide somehow the compressed garbage being displayed before the real image and  maybe it's theoretically doable: - sou...

Re: HRC in the works

https://youtu.be/XUskSz0GVxw The program pokes 28 (60 Hz HIRES display) in every cell in range #BF40-#BF67 and waits 500ms after each to allow ULA to "interpret" the attribute - the result is vertical frequency remains at 50Hz. At end POKE#BF68,28 is executed and mode is set to 60Hz. ... the fact t...

Re: HRC in the works

Congrats, Symoon! It's cool and works fine by me.

Else I've checked and there is no problem with addresses in both ranges: #BFE0-BFFF and #BF40-#BF67 - if once HIRES is set they can hold any value and no impact on ULA's work.
