Re: A new well-known compiler

>(I wonder if that could be ported to the Oric/other-8-bitters? Probably.)

I think Orix has a bit more potential: http://orix.oric.org

Re: Dead oric 1

I can see a "how to debug your non-working Oric" game coming out of this, a la Oslo ..

Re: At last a smooth(ish) - pseudo hires horizontal scroll

>Interestingly,, if I add a delay in each cycle it actually looks smoother. This is kinda to be expected, seems the engine might need to sync the char-redef on scroll-lag intervals .. and anyway, adjusting this lock-step works in your favour, since not every use of such an engine would require bat-o...

Re: At last a smooth(ish) - pseudo hires horizontal scroll

Its very interesting .. is it glitching for known reasons, though? Because I see a lot of flicker - perhaps this is just a timing issue - i.e. you're updating as fast as possible?

>give things amps

Yeah, I clearly meant "give the Oric a power supply that doesn't cry over how many amps it draws", but .. whatever.

Re: Dead oric 1

>I propose to put the multimeter in ammeter option in your power line positive. It should read around 700-800 mA (less than 1 Amp). Follow this advice from Voyageur! FWIW, I've had a few Oric's that I thought were dead, only to find out that I wasn't giving them enough amps in the power supply... it...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

So how are the audio signals going to be handled - summed? I could imagine a 4-voice polyphonic Oric synth with summed signals might have some distortion/drive issues, or at least .. I'd hope that would be the case.. ;) Can't wait to see more demos of Exos! Every time there's news, I think of the ef...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

>Software programmable volume for each chip is fine, that would even allow things like cross fading between the chips, what I'm against is user selectable mixing using actual physical controls. Sorry for the confusion - I am actually *pro-* having actual physical controls, but this is because I'm a ...

I'd set the levels of each Oric according to my needs as a musician according to the composition. >I can see how having a user selectable global volume would be useful, but a user selectable mixing would be a headache for the programmer A) I wasn't aware you're planning...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

All 4 sound output are "as is" - standalone without mixing. The 4 speakers will be attached with wires and proper connectors to every board (next to the purple/white wires which connect the master reset button on the picture). If anyone has an idea for something better - now is the right time to sh...

I want this so bad it hurts. Lets turn this system into a multi-timbral polyphonic synthesiser! :)

Re: Game Release: 8bit-Slicks Online Racer for Apple, Atari, C64 (Atmos Next!!!)

I imagine a case you can just 'clip' onto the back of an Oric/Atmos, which sort of closes the legacy ports off and exposes only the now-gen stuff ..

Whoa, I would love to have the gumption to jump on this, but I'd kinda rather build my own .. will you be making this closed/open, design-wise?

Re: ORIC SDCARD

Would be good to get this sorted out - I'll commit to at least 5 of these boards, out of the batch .. and am willing to finance more if there is interest and we might get them distributed, over time, to other Oric users.
